SharePoint 2007 vs. SharePoint 2010


SharePoint 2010 is the next version of SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010 introduces a list of new features like Access Services, Visio Services, Business Connectivity Services. It also provides enhancements to a lot of existing features like Excel Services, Record Management etc

There is a basic Hardware requirement change between SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010, SharePoint 2007 can run on a 32-bit machine, but SharePoint 2010 requires a 64-machine and an Operating System which supports 64-bit processing, even the SQL Server needs to support 64-bit, So if you are moving from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, you should also plan to Change/Upgrade your Hardware and Operating Systems.

WSS 3.0 vs MOSS 2007

WSS 3.0 is free and can be downloaded and installed on any server which runs Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008. It has the basic features like Site, Lists, Document Libraries, Wikis, Blogs etc. WSS 3.0 can be used for learning and for small business setups.
