SharePoint Server 2010 is the Successor of SharePoint Server
2007; it provides a number of additional features to enhance the
usage of SharePoint.
SharePoint Server 2010 180 days Trial Standard/Enterprise versions can be downloaded from the following location.
From the Infrastructure point of view,
there is a key changes, SharePoint Server 2007 can be installed in a server
supporting 32-bit, however SharePoint server
2010 requires a server supporting 64-bit processor

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (or) WSS 3.0, is the
underlying core framework of SharePoint, WSS is free and can be downloaded and
installed on any server which runs Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 contains all the basic
features which are required for a small business setup. It has the basic
features like Site, Lists, Document Libraries, Wikis, Blogs etc.
We can also create users and groups and assign
user/group specific privileges using Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 comes with the
following built in site templates, which can be used to create new sites.
• Team site
• Document workspace
• Blank site
• Blog
• Wiki
For the development point of view, it has an Object Model and a set of Web Services which can be used to program the behavior of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. It also supports deploying custom Web parts which were developed using Visual Studio.
