Excel Services allows us to publish excel worksheets
and workbooks in the SharePoint server, the files are uploaded to the server
and other users can view the published worksheets in their browser. The Excel Web Access (EWA) Web Part enables to
users to view the published sheets in the browser.
Excel services enables
users to update the information in the published sheets and maintains
versioning of the sheets using check-in/check-out.
Once the worksheets are published to the server, the calculations performed on the sheets are carried out on the server, hence ensuring security to the business logic embedded in the worksheets. View mode can also be set to the users, who are not allows updating data but can just view the contents of the work sheets.
